On October 19, 2022, we published a new version of Performance Monitor for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and SAP Hana databases. The most important features added in the application are improvements to the Anomaly Monitor report and deeper analysis of the locking problem, memory support for container databases in Oracle, and improvements to the Query advisor mechanism.
Anomaly Monitor – Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL
In the latest version, we have made changes at the level of the report available in the Anomaly Monitor mechanism. The changes relate to the presentation of information on the general performance characteristics of the instance, as well as the presentation of information on the main performance problems detected in the instance in the period for which the report was prepared.
Other changes include improvements to the mechanism for collecting locks, as well as new functionality for in-depth analysis of the causes of locks. Scenarios have been added to the application, based on which the causes of the problem are analyzed and indicated.
Query advisor – Oracle
In the latest version of the application, we have made changes to the automatic query performance verification mechanism. In the new version, verification of the query plan with which the query is executed and comparison with the one generated by the Query Advisor algorithm has been added. If a more optimal path is detected, such information will be presented on the application screen with hints and suggestions for new indexes.
Memory handling in container databases – Oracle
In the latest version, we have improved the mechanism for presenting memory information for container databases. The mechanism has been expanded to include data from the “root” database. Based on the information from the “root” database, the size of memory allocated for a given monitored instance is determined.
Access to software updates
The DBPLUS software is updated at least 4 times a year. Customers have access to all updates when they have a license or maintenance service. With the upgrade to the latest version, the application will run faster and smoother. Each published version provides new functionalities that allow for easier management and performance improvement in the monitored database.
