On October 8, 2021, we published a new version of Performance Monitor for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases. The most important functions added in the application are: the REST API functionality for all versions of the application, Query Advisor – a mechanism indicating optimization possibilities for the analyzed queries in the Oracle database. A new type of report has also been added to the application, containing the main performance problems and general information about the performance of monitored databases.
Query Advisor (Oracle)
W najnowszej wersji aplikacji dodaliśmy funkcjonalność podpowiadania zmian w celu poprawy wydajności zapytań – Query advisor. W obecnej wersji funkcjonalność Query advisor weryfikuje czy tabele biorące udział w zapytaniu posiadają optymalne indeksy na potrzeby wykonania analizowanego zapytania. W przypadku stwierdzenia braku indeksu, informacja zostanie zaprezentowana w aplikacji. W celu poprawy wydajności zapytania, mechanizm informuje o możliwości założenia indeksu, modyfikacji istniejących indeksów lub też sugeruje użycie HINT.

In the latest version of the application, we have added the functionality of suggesting changes to improve query performance – Query advisor. In the current version, the Query advisor functionality verifies whether the tables involved in the query have the optimal indexes for the execution of the analyzed query. If there is no index, the information will be presented in the application. In order to improve query performance, the mechanism informs about the possibility of creating an index, modifying existing indexes or suggesting the use HINT.
Performance report (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL)
The ability to generate a new report has been added in the latest version of the application. The report contains information about the most important performance statistics for a given database. The report provides information on:
- General database description (includes basic database parameters)
- Operating system statistics presenting the CPU load in the database
- Database statistics, showing the total duration of queries, waiting time, IO, locks and latches.
- Top queries
Access to software updates
The DBPLUS software is updated at least 4 times a year. Customers have access to all updates when they have a license or maintenance service. With the upgrade to the latest version, the application will run faster and smoother. Each published version provides new functionalities that allow for easier management and performance improvement in the monitored database.
